Step into our on site Spa (above left ) and then into the treatment room (above right) and receive a warm welcome. Relaxation is key from the start.
Come prepared for your treatment and it will go so much more smoothly.
Arrive in time so you are not flustered.
Shower before so your skin is clean for the therapist and do not use deoderants or perfume.
You will be expected to undress down to your underwear – you can remove them if is more comfortable, this is your choice but not necessary.
Only the part of the body being worked on at the time will be exposed, otherwise the body will remain covered and warm, warm muscles are easier to massage as they are softer and more relaxed.
Massage pressure should be quite firm but not painful and not so light as not to receive any benefit. The clue is in the name deep tissue massage. The aim being to manipulate the muscles and create lymph drainage of toxins from the muscles easing pain and creating a relaxing feeling.
Do not worry about washing your hair it is going to get oil in it as part of the massage process and will most definitely get ruffled! Wash it afterwards.
Enough oil is placed in the palm of the therapist to limit friction from skin to skin and allow free movement over the area being treated. You should not be oily when you leave only a minor residue will be left on the skin. Grape seed oil is used which is best for sensitive skin and carries no strong smell or colour, it is a great base barrier oil to carrier other essential oils should you be having an aromatherapy massage treatment.
Your treatment will last anything from half an hour to an hour. At the end you will be asked to get up off the couch slowly as you may feel slightly light headed and then to drink a cold drink of water to help with lymph fluid movement and the removal of toxins.
