Welcome to The Dorset Hideaway’s Caravan Touring and Camping site.
99 pitches in total with 28 Fully Serviced, 12 Hardstanding, (for all units including tents), 20 grass EHU with parking next to pitch, 39 grass EHU with parking on grass (weather dependent) and 10 non EHU. All pitches are numbered and divided from each other by either hedging or fencing EXCEPT the all grass tent pitches, all with the same outstanding views and tranquillity. The site is suitable for tents, caravans, small RVs & 5th wheelers, motorhomes up to 9m, campervans, trailer tents and anything else in between. For grass tent camping pitches it will be necessary to know the footprint size of your tent to book as not all pitches are the same size.
Why not hire a fire pit whilst on site and buy some logs & marshmallows from the shop & then sit back and gaze as the sun sets and the starry skies appear before your eyes. We are an award winning ‘dark skies’ site and as such we have low level limited lighting so as not to intrude into the outstanding natural beauty of the environment, please do bring a suitable torch and appropriate footwear.
Adventureplay area for under 12s, with safety rubber chip base, completely fenced – a great place to let of steam! There is a ball games area for over 10s – basketball hoop, football goals, badminton net and then they can also use the games room in the barn where there is a pool table, table football game and table tennis – charges apply (hire everything from reception) and this area is under CCTV and any damages will be accounted for. The boules/petanque area is also by the barn.
After all that exercise and running around why not come back for the ultimate decadence and have your aches and pains massaged & soothed away and then soak for an hour in the the hot tub without ever having to leave the site. (pre-book to avoid disappointment – check out our Spa page for list of full treatments on offer). Then if you’ve been really organised you’ve pre-ordered a hamper & a fire-pit so you can fire up the BBQ and you’re inner caveman and get cooking some local food al fresco and afterwards sit warm & cozy in front of one our fire pits with some marshmallows, a star map, some blankets and just gaze at the night sky totally at one with nature.
New this year wildlife pond with stream & bridge and underplanted. Swing seat also available to snuggle up in. Sauna & steam room now available to add to the Spa experience for 2019 season.
This is the reception/shop & Information Room and the centre of all things on site. The place to check-in & pay pitch fees, buy local produce, place an order for daily bread/croissants (in school holidays), freeze ice packs, buy a cold drink, ice lolly or ice cream, report a problem, ask a daft question, hire a fire pit, buy some logs, hire a DVD, board game or large outdoor game or ‘borrow’ something you’ve forgotten! The information room is where you can find out where to go, what to do & see; look at maps & leaflets, exchange a book, or use the FREE basic Wifi (only available here, not on your pitch). Fibre-optic is not available as the infrastructure is not in place in our beautiful rural location & we have no control over this. If you are coming for peace, relaxation and quality time together then this is the place to come where a digital detox is totally possible. 3 or 4G are available to some networks on site. Many of our guests have asked us not to install wifi to each pitch as it is lovely having the family back and all in one room together!
Just opposite is the site recycling facility where everything has a home & the big/broken stuff is at yours – do not leave us your broken airbeds, chairs, steps, awnings etc this impacts pitch prices as we have to take them to the dump ourselves and pay to dispose of them!
This is the place where everything gets cleaned, from the pots and pans, people and plates to the laundry & loo. Sockets are available for using your own Hairdryers/Straighteners etc The basins have soap and hand dryers. The Laundry is open all day. The block has underfloor heating & solar thermal water heating to help to do our bit for our beautiful planet. Water is softened. There is also a disabled wetroom & baby change facility. All areas have speakers with music playing quietly in the background.
Fresh drinking water & grey water waste are located just in front of the building and the chemical toilet waste disposal is in it’s own room marked on the front of the building complete with basin & soap to help make the not so nice tasks and bit nicer!
This is the only place to empty chemical toilets on site no other drain is to be used and DEFINITELY not the toilets in the shower block – we are NOT on mains sewerage and the harmful chemicals in chemical toilets will kill our clever bacteria in the sewage treatment plant.

This is the onsite Spa facility, where you can book from amongst relaxing heated spa pedicures, manicures, & facials…to alternative therapy massages, reflexology and hot stone massages, whilst gazing at the amazing views, watching the birds and sipping a healthy fruit juice, hot herbal infused tea or ice cool mineral water. then why not top it off by hiring the hot tub for an hour & sit back with a glass of bubbly and watch the world go by. Perhaps the hammock is more your thing where you kick back, grab a read & fall fast asleep, looking up at the tree canopy above or star gazing. Group pamper sessions can be catered for, hen parties, birthdays or special occasions, just get in touch and we’ll help you put together a package with bubbly and nibbles.

Be assured this area is for adults only and no children are allowed.
Fish in our well stocked leisure pond, watch out for the damsel & dragon flies, a swooping swallow or a kingfisher; use the spa; take a circular walk direct from the campsite with pubs en route! Go metal detecting with Mike (bring your own metal detector), or take a tractor and trailor ride around our 50 acres of farmland (small charge applies) and visit the petting area afterwards where you can pet a miniature Shetland Pony and feed the pigs and chickens.
If you’re travelling with your very own adorable mutt then we have 50 acres to walk your dog in without any livestock to worry about or any roads to cross or walk along. At the end if you or they are muddy don’t worry we have a dog & boot wash area. If you prefer a shorter exercise area that is completely safe (as your dog may be a little selectively deaf to the recall command) then this may suit you better – certainly ideal for early morning or late night toilet breaks – complete with poop bin, bags & scoop so no excuses!
